Survival on the Spiritual Battlefield: A Christian Warrior Training Manual on How to Safely Lead Your Family on the Battlefield and How to Be Victorious by Salvador “Si” Rangel
By How Miller
Si Rangel, our new Chapter 78 Chaplain, is eager to be of service to the chapter. He also has written a notably unique book titled Survival on the Spiritual Battlefield: A Christian Warrior Training Manual on How To Safely Lead Your Family on the Battlefield and How To Be Victorious.
In it he draws on both his military knowl- edge and experience and explains how the warrior ethic is useful to both military and spiritual endeavors. He describes how the mil- itary structures are set up to favor victory, giving examples of com- mand structures and doctrine. He stresses the importance of doing things “by the book,” along with trusting superiors and the system to ensure mission success.
Likewise, he describes how a born-again Christian Warrior needs to have many military attributes such as vigilance and a willingness to “follow the Book,” in this case the Bible. He has gathered a very impressive amount of pertinent scriptural references to back up each of his assertions.
Since I am not a born-again Christian, Si welcomed the chance to have me give a dispassionate review of his book. I was quite impressed with how much the book is internally consistent and how much detail he presented. This book is an excellent reference book and training manual for those that are willing to be totally dedicated to a spiritual life.
